Dawson Volunteer Fire Department is holding a fundraiser BBQ dinner and auction at the fire station starting at 5 p.m. There will be a BBQ dinner, auction, and music from Billy Ray Mitchum and the Glory Bound Singers. Your donations for the evening will go to support the Dawson Volunteer Fire Department.

Mildred Eagle Cheerleaders along with Beck Animal Clinic will sponsor a LOW COST Vaccination Cinic from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon at Mildred High School. Cats, Dogs and Horses are welcome.  For additional information please contact Jamie Kitchens at (903) 875-9729 or  kitchensj@mildredisd.org.

 

The American Legion, Post 22, 632 N. The City Of Blooming Grove will hold its Monthly City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Blooming Grove City Hall, 200 S. Fordyce, Blooming Grove, TX  76626.

Piecemakers Quilt Guild will meet at the Westhill Church of Christ for refreshments  and gossip from 9:30 til 10 a.m. After a short business meeting Linda Weeks will present a program on “Embroidery on Quilts”. Members and guests will then be able to browse many, many goodies brought by Melissa Picha, from the Compass Center Shop at her Quilt Retreat Center.  All quilters and “wanna-be” quilters are invited.  Bring a sack lunch and project to work on and  spend the afternoon at “Sit and Sew.” This is a great opportunity to see current projects of other quilters and get renewed inspirations. Blooming Grove Crime Watch will host District Judge James Lagomarsino at 7 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Dept.

City of Corsicana presents “Boots ‘N Brews” in its Second Saturday event series from 4 to 9 p.m. in downtown Corsicana. Activities include microbrew tastings, stick horse rodeo, salsa making competition and pony rides. Visit our local merchants, street, and food vendors, and enjoy live music by Byron Haynie and also by Grant Jones and the Pistol Grip Lassos. Free to the public and to vendors.   • City cancels ambulance contract with county

    The City of Corsicana has notified Navarro County officials it is cancelling its agreement with the county to provide EMS ambulance service to areas outside the city limits. According to a letter sent to county officials by Corsicana Mayor Chuck McClanahan, ambulance service to county residents will end on Jan. 31, 2015.

    The project to rebuild Seventh Avenue or Highway 31 as it goes through Corsicana is almost over. From an uneven patchwork of paving and pitted concrete, now it’s a smooth ride from Beaton all the way through town.
    It just took an extra year to finish.

    An attempt to bootleg electricity off a pole using jumper cables is believed to have caused a building fire that took out a former restaurant in Angus Friday morning, one of a series of calls to Navarro County Sheriff’s Office to the southern end of the county over the weekend.
