The Palace Theatre is proud to announce its 2013-2014 season featuring some huge professional acts. The Palace Theatre prides itself on presenting a diverse season of performing arts for this community. With the season, patrons will get “a little bit” of everything from Broadway musicals to country, to rock and roll to classical.
The 2013-2014 season will kick-off on Saturday, Sept. 21 with country legends, Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan. These ladies of country will bring their “Grits and Glamour” tour to Corsicana which will feature their hits along with several special duets together on stage. With 12 #1 hits, and 28 Top 10 songs between them, it is no wonder these ladies have stood the test of time. You won’t want to miss this one night event in September.
Next on the stage might be one of the biggest and respected name in show business. Ed Asner will star in his one man show “FDR” on Tuesday, Oct. 29. This powerful play follows the iconic president as he reflects on his years in office. Asner, the recipient of seven Emmy Awards and 20 nominations, five Golden Globes, and a member of the TV Academy Hall of Fame, will delight audiences in this must-see event.
In January, the Palace will welcome Hot Club of Cowtown. Austin based Hot Club of Cowtown has grown to be the most globe-trotting, hardest-swinging Western swing trio on the planet. The have opened stadiums for such artists as Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. This hot ticket will be one night only on Saturday, Jan. 25.
The afternoon of Feb. 23, the community will have a chance to enjoy an afternoon of the classic with the Logan/Walters Harp Duo. This show will feature original arrangements and transcriptions for two harps. From Haydn to Brahms and Mendelssohn to fiery music of De Falla, along with a little Ellington and Joplin, this duo present music not often heard on the harp.
One of Broadway’s favorites, “Sweet Charity” will come to the stage on Sunday, March 23. Combining the inspiration of Bob Fosse and the hilarity of Neil Simon, this show continues to be a hit featuring songs such “There Must Be Something Better Than This” and “Hey Big Spender.”
In April, the Palace will feature The Famous Harlem Gospel Choir. The premier gospel choir, this group has traveled the world for more than 26 years entertaining millions of people. This one night performance will be Thursday, April 17.
The last show of the season will have most baby boomers waiting in line for tickets as the Palace welcomes Herman’s Hermits. Peter Noone will be taking the stage to lead the Hermit’s in a concert to remember. Herman’s Hermits sold over 60 million records with 14 singles and seven albums that went gold. This one night event will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 2.
The only way to guarantee your seats to these events is with a Palace Season subscription. Current season ticket holders can renew their seats now through July 24. Beginning Aug. 6, the non-renewed seats will be available for sale. Ticket prices range from as low as $102 to $189 for all six shows and your subscription will save you up to 40 percent off individual ticket prices. Hot Club of Cowtown tickets are additional at only $10 per ticket. Individual tickets for these shows will go on sale approximately 4-6 weeks before the show date.
