Corsicana — Sept. 3

The Blooming Grove Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. in the museum at 201 S. Fordyce St. in Blooming Grove. The program will be presented by Billy Bason who will discuss his work history with airplanes.  For more information, call (903) 673-2635 or (903) 695-2633.

Sept. 5

Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Historical Society building across from Blooming Grove City Hall. The guest speaker will be Blooming Grove ISD superintendent Jimmie Malone. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Corsicana Community Blood Drive will be held at First United Methodist Church Martin Hall, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Battle of the Badges, Law Enforcement vs. Fire Department means each donor denotes which organization they support, and the one with the most supporters wins. Each donor will receive a free T-shirt. Please call 1-800-RED-CROSS to schedule an appointment.

Sept. 7

Johnson-Wiggins American Legion Post 22 of Corsicana will host its Second Annual 9-11 Never Forget Memorial Service at 2 p.m. at the Post, 632 N. Beaton St. The memorial service will honor the victims of the attack on America and the American military service personnel who have died in the war against terrorism while other members of the service continue to fight. There will be a blood drive, the Veterans Tribute Motorcycle (www.veteranstributemotorcycle.com) will be on display, MeMaw’s Misfits wil dance, there wil be a silent auction, several cook-off events, and vendor booths. Sept. 9

Woodmen of the World Lodge 5 will have its meeting at 6 p.m. in the Lodge Hall at 200 W. Oak Lawn.  All members, their families and guests are cordially invited.

Piecemakers Quilt guild meets at 9:30 a.m. at Westhill Church of Christ for a start of grub and gossip. Guild business discussion begins at 10 a.m. and after this short business meeting a program/demonstration will be presented by Charlene Bice. This will be a workshop to make a Christmas Apron. Members and guests are invited to join the fun. Bring a sack lunch and stay for the afternoon to continue working on your apron or bring your own project.
