The Corsicana City Council is scheduled to hold public hearings on its proposed budget and tax rate when it meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The city has previously said the ad valorem tax rate of .6272 per $100 taxable valuation will not change for the coming fiscal year.
Also on Tuesday’s agenda are several interlocal agreements with Navarro County, including an agreement for ambulance service to county residents. The city has asked the county for a subsidy of $350,000 for the coming year. The county has countered with an offer of $275,000.
Agreements with the county for library services, fire and fire investigative services, economic development services, the housing of city prisoners in the county jail, and animal shelter services are also on Tuesday’s agenda.
Council members will also be asked to postpone a final vote on the budget to the Sept. 17 council meeting. The new budget will go into effect on Oct. 1.
The city council will also consider changes to the current zoning ordinance regarding specific use permits, award bids for asphaltic materials, fuel, gravel and road materials, and water/wastewater chemicals.
An application for funding through the Texas Department of Agriculture Texas Capital Fund is also on the council agenda.
A public forum time is held at the beginning of each Corsicana City Council meeting for members of the public that wish to address the council.
