A U.S. Postal carrier on a rural route on FM 637 has been transported to Baylor Hospital in Dallas after her vehicle was struck by another vehicle around noon as she was delivering mail.
Extensive damage was done to the carrier’s small vehicle, and she received injuries, although the extent was unclear as of Wednesday afternoon.
She was taken to the hospital by Corsicana Fire Department ambulance because the air ambulances couldn’t fly because of the weather, according to Fire Chief Donald McMullan.
The woman had stopped to put mail in a mailbox when a large pickup came over the hill and struck her car in the rear, sending her car into some trees.
Also working the scene, along with firefighters were troopers with the Department of Public Safety.
