AgriLife focus on healthy dining

Corsicana — The culinary event of the year for Central Texas is right around the corner! Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is proud to present the 2013 Dinner Tonight Healthy Cooking School on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the Performing Arts Center of Hill College in Hillsboro. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with the cooking school held from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $20 if pre-registered by Nov. 5 with on-site registration available for $25 per person. A special rate for Hill or Navarro College students is offered for $15, with ID required at check-in. To pre-register, log on to http://agriliferegister.tamu.edu and search keyword “Dinner.”

In coordination with the Texas Beef Council, the Dinner Tonight! Cooking School targets busy people in search of quick, easy, delicious and nutritious recipes that can be prepared at home. The cooking school will not only provide the participants with cookbooks for nutrient rich meals but will also teach basic cooking concepts, techniques and nutrition that can be used throughout the kitchen.

In addition to great recipe demonstrations by area county Extension agents, vendors from across the area will be present and all participants will receive a free gift bag at the door including a cookbook with healthy and delicious recipes!  Door prizes will be given throughout the evening and the grand prize drawing will be a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer, donated by HILCO.
