Corsicana — A listing of meetings and events of interest from throughout Navarro County

Nov. 9

Blooming Grove High School student council will hold its first annual Turkey Trot 5K fun run at 10 a.m. at Blooming Grove High School on the cross country course behind the new gym. Pre-registration is Oct. 30 to Nov. 6. Participants can also register on race day from 9 to 10 a.m. Registration is $15, and prizes will be awarded. All proceeds will benefit the local area food banks. Please contact Ashley Mahone, student council sponsor, for more information or entry forms at 903-879-2651.

Angels of Corsicana Troop Support will meet at 9 a.m. at 1020 N. Bus. 45. All ages are welcome to come pack. If anyone knows of military serving in harm’s way, please bring their name and address to the packing so we can send a gift box to them. This will be our Thanksgiving box. Christmas packing has been set for Saturday, Dec. 7 at the American Legion Hall at 10 a.m. We are receiving donations for our Christmas stockings. They can be delivered at the above address Monday through Saturday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. We will also be receiving donations at 5 p.m. at the Legion Post. Please support our military. Navarro County Genealogical Society will hold a meeting at 10 a.m. with the program immediately following. The public is invited to attend. There is no cost to attend the meeting. Program: Finding Graves. Dana Stubbs will bring a slide show pertaining to her grave-hunting experiences with techniques she picked up along the way while hunting and finding graves. The meeting will be held in the Nancy Roberts Room at the Corsicana Public Library.

VFW on West Highway 31 will host Classic Country from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight. This is our Veteran’s Day Celebration. Cover is $5.
