Gala to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs

Evening of food and music set Saturday at Cook Center

Corsicana — It’s an evening planned to benefit the work of a vital agency in Corsicana.

Saturday, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Navarro County is hosting “Taste of Corsicana” and and evening of dance music at the Cook Center at Navarro College.

Beginning at 6 p.m., attendees will have a chance to sample foods from a variety of Corsicana restaurants. Participating eateries include Cotton Patch Cafe, Chili’s Grill and Bar, Fiesta Grill, Bittersweet Boutique, Lady Diana’s Tea Room, Wendy’s, and the Corsicana Country Club. An open bar along with wine and soft drinks will be available.

Throughout the evening, entertainment for the event will be provided by Ralph Dixon, a popular local entertainer who has appeared several times at the Corsicana Country Club, said Hannah McCleary, one of the event organizers.

Proceeds from the event will go to support the continuing programs of the Boys & Girls Clubs, from after-school programs during the school year to summertime recreation and activities while school is out, said Andre Kennard, executive director.

“This is one of our annual fundraisers,” Kennard explained. “It will continue to allow us to work with upwards of 70 kids a day with activities centered around healthy lifestyles and character development.”

Assistance with homework and computer access and education is also available at the local Boys & Girls Clubs, Kennard said.

Summer activities include frequent field trips, recreational activities, sports, and arts and crafts, also well attended, he said.

Tickets for the event are $75 each, in support of the work of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Navarro County.

For more information or to reserve tickets, contact Kennard at 903-872-9231.
