Three hurt in weekend crashes

Corsicana — One person was transported to Navarro Regional Hospital after a two-car crash at 9:42 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of North 45th Street and West Second Avenue in Corsicana.

According to a police report of the crash, a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Bulmaro Carpio Jr. 21, of Richardson, headed north on 45th Street, was stopped at a red light on North 45th Street and West Second Avenue, when it was struck from behind by a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Ronald Wayne Wilson, 38, of Corsicana.

As a result of the crash, the Suburban flipped on impact, landing on its roof.

A passenger in the Cruze, Leovijilda Reyes, 40, was taken to Navarro Regional Hospital by Corsicana EMS personnel for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

The police report said Wilson was cited for failure to control speed, and no proof of insurance.

In another incident, a DeSoto woman and a small child were taken to Navarro Regional Hospital following a crash at 8:48 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of East Collin Street.

A police report of the crash said a 2007 Chrysler 300 driven by Dawn Renee Hawkins, 48, of Corsicana, was traveling west on East Collin Street and failed to yield the right of way, striking a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria headed north on Benton Street, driven by Bettoria Lasha Ward, 20, of DeSoto.

Ward and a 2-year-old child passenger were both taken to Navarro Regional by Corsicana EMS.
