Habitat for Humanity of Navarro County will be dedicating its latest Habitat Home at 6 p.m. in a special ceremony at 307 Gioia Circle, off North Ninth Street. This is the fifth house built on Gioia Circle, and the seventh house the program has built for a “partner family” since its inception. The public is invited to attend.
A public meeting to discuss the Seaway and Pegasus pipelines will be held at 7 p.m. at the Corsicana Public Library. The pipelines both run through Navarro County and Richland Chambers Lake, transporting tar sand south to Houston. Both companies have experienced major leaks over the last three years, in Arkansas and Illinois. Organizers of the meeting, Phil Krejci and Barbara Lawrence, invite the public to come learn more about tar sands, the hazardous chemicals used to dilute them, how damage to pipelines is monitored, how the pipes are maintained, how leaks are detected and what happens should a spill occur. Representatives of the companies, the Navarro County Office of Emergency Management, the Texas Railroad Commission, Exxon, Public Citizen and the Tarrant Regional Water District have been invited to attend the meeting.
The Corsicana Newcomers' Club will hold its annual Summer Social at 11 a.m. at the Kinsloe House. This year's event will be a Flip Flop Party. Decorate your flop flops to win one of the prized offered. Paula Butler from TAMU AgriLife Extension office will talk to us about cooking with herbs and Helen Griffiths' Corsicana Cloggers will entertain. Corsicana Senior Center will be the venue for a Cardiac Health Awareness/Senior Center Fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. IntegraCare Home Health is the sponsor and will provide snacks and cardia health awareness and demonstrations. Richland Volunteer Fire Department will be having a fish fry fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. at the fire station at 103 West Main. All you can eat, with adults $10, kids 10 and under $5. All proceeds will benefit the Richland Volunteer Fire Department.

The Navarro Council of the arts presents "With Six You Get Eggrolls" a Fine Art Exhibit featuring the works of Helen Albritton, Barbara Jones, Gladys Espenson, Deb Miller, Stephanie Ford, and Margie Taylor at the Warehouse Gallery from May 15 to July. Exhibit is free and open to the public daily.

PIECEMAKERS QUILT GUILD will meet at Westhill Church of Christ for refreshments and gossip from 9:30 to 10 a.m. After a short business meeting Becky Stephenson will present a program on the art of of “English Paper Piecing.” Members and guests will be led through the process of this technique with a hands on approach. Bring your own lunch and spend the afternoon continuing your project or just enjoy the time of Sit and Sew. All quilters and “wanna-be” quilters are invited. The Blooming Grove July 4 parade and activities will begin at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a dog show and silent auction in the park. Parade entries need to line up at the high school parking lot at 9:30 am. All types of floats are welcome. The silent auction will feature patriotic artwork. The dog show is open to everyone. The categories are most patriotic, dog owner look alike, and best trick. There will also be a most patriotic yard contest with winners announced after the parade. Freedom Festival will be held in the IOOF Park Thursday, July 4th beginning at 6 p.m. and culminating with a big budget fireworks show at dark. The Kinsloe House hosts the July First Sunday luncheon at Kinsloe House on July 7, 2013. Though the house is officially closed we are still holding the luncheon at the regular time 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The luncheon will consist of a tasty pork loin or a chicken dish with a salad, carrots, rice and two delicious desserts to choose from. The desserts will be a key lime laced coconut cake and a delicious cheesecake or a sugar free pudding. The Republican Part of Navarro County will hold its Executive Committee meeting at 7 p.m. at the Republican Headquarters at 111-B West Third Avenue in downtown Corsicana. State Rep. Byron Cook (R-Corsicana) will be guest speaker for the evening, reporting on the 83rd Legislative Session and Special Session. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28, 1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975.
