Corsicana — Announcements submitted by local congregations throughout Navarro County.

Calvary Baptist Church, 308 E. 11th Ave., will host a 100 Men City Wide Male Chorus Musical at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14. This spiritually-uplifted choir will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8 for a rehearsal. Come join Professor Paul Lewis and Minister Orlando Williams, and be part of this moving event. Psalm 133:1 — “Behold, how good and pleasant it is for men to dwell together in clarity.”



Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church, 400 S. 15th St., will have two services to honor its Pastor and Wife’s 16th Anniversary. This 16th Appreciation Celebration for Pastor A.E. Smith and Sister Linda Smith will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 with the youth and sanctuary choir sponsoring. Guest speaker will be Pastor C. Chambers and the 13th Ave. Baptist Church family. Then on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. the celebration will continue with special guest pastor Nathan Carter and the Mt. B Zion Baptist Church. The Straightway Church Family invites the public to participate in all these services.



Wesley United Methodist Church (due to heavy rains on Sept. 27) rescheduled its Blessing of the Animals with Celebration and Consecration of their new Noah’s Ark playground and youth gardens to on Saturday, Oct. 13.  The Blessing of the Animals will be outside on the playground by Noah’s Ark at 3 p.m.  This will be followed by the Celebration & Consecration of playground and youth gardens for their new after-school program called “Noah’s Kids” that will begin in November.  The Celebration activities begin at 4 p.m. with live gospel music by The Eternal River Band and free hot dogs, chips and soda.  The community is invited to both events.  The only requirement is that if you bring a pet to be blessed, the animal must be on a leash or carried in your arms.  Hope to see you there!  



Pelham Community Homecoming will celebrate its 55th annual Oct. 12-14. Friday night, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. will be a worship service with Rev. Charles Kelly as the master of ceremonies at the Wesley United Methodist Church, and Rev. Earnest Sample Sr. of West as speaker. On Saturday, Oct. 13, from 2 to 6 p.m. will be Pelham “Fun and Frolic.” Family and friends will enjoy activities at the Pelham Community History Museum. Bring your lawn chairs, Museum will be open for tours. The celebration will culminate on Sunday with homecoming worship services at 10:45 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Rev. Elgin Taylor, President Emeritus of Christians in Action International of Dallas speaking. Dinner will be served following services at the Pelham Community Center.



Eureka United Methodist Church, 8644 S. Hwy 287, will hold its Lord’s Acre celebration Oct. 6. Barbecue dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. The meal will consist of brisket, pinto beans,  potato salad, bread, pickles, onions and homemade pies with coffee or tea. Adult meals are $8, children age 3 and under are free. The country kitchen will be open from 10 a.m. to noon, 4 to 7 p.m., and the auction will be at 7:30 p.m. The drawing for the quilt will be held during the auction. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, located at 4495 W. State Hwy. 22, invites all to join us for our Sunday Church Services starting at 10 a.m. There is nursery for babies through age 2 years and activities for 3 and 4 year olds. Children ages 5 through 12 are invited to meet in the children’s building for Children’s Church.  There are also the following activities, Monday Nights at 7 p.m., Mounted Shooting; Tuesday 7 p.m., Team Roping and Women’s fellowship. 7 p.m. each Wednesday is Bible Study and Youth Service. Barrel racing is held at 7 p.m. on Thursday. There will be a Trail Ride at Lake Whitney on Oct. 6; a Flea Market on Oct. 12 and 13; Ranch Rodeo on Oct. 20; Truck or Treat Halloween Event will be Oct. 31.



Church of Grace Without Walls Ministry extends greetings to all precious souls. Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ, 1600 S. Bus. Hwy 45, invites the public to attend its Chat and Chew Bible Study each Tuesday at 7 p.m. Elder Joseph Johnson Sr., senior pastor of Johnson Memorial, will be the teacher. Please come and be a part of this prophetic teaching.

Petty’s Chapel Baptist Church and Pastor Elvin Sikes Sr. invite the public to our weekly services; Sunday:  8:30 a.m. worship services, 9:30 a.m. time for fellowship,  9:45 a.m. Sunday school,  Wednesday night begins at 6:30 p.m. with praise, worship, and prayer meeting.  Youth activities are also held at 6:30 p.m.  Petty’s Chapel is a family church that is focused on ministry to all ages.  It is located on old Roane Road one half mile east of I-45.  The physical address is 1300 FM 3041.



Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 2105 East Jones Ave. is celebrating its 100th year. Activities begin Saturday, Oct. 6 with Fall Festival/Harvest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Matthew 9:37 “Then saith He unto his disciples, the Harvest truly is plentious, but the laborers are few.” There will be fun for all ages, including a clothes and coats giveaway, free food, entertainment, a talent show, health information booths with Bethany Home Health and Care-A-Lot Home Health, as well as someone to help with pre-needs arrangements and all kinds of games. Door prizes will be given away. The congregation is so thankful and excited to celebrate this 100th year, and asks God to shine a bright light upon Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.  Frost United Methodist Church will hold its Lord’s Acre celebration on Oct. 6, 2012 in the Frost School Cafeteria. Lunch will be served from 11:30 am to 1 p.m., with take-outs being ready at 11 a.m. The meal will consist of brisket, sausage, chicken, beans, potato salad, coleslaw, cake and tea. Adult meals are $7, children 12 and under are $4. The country store will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the auction will start at 1 p.m.



First Baptist Church of Eureka, 8718 Hwy 287 South, will host a BBQ Fund Raiser on Oct. 13, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. Our children's Church has outgrown their class rooms and are in need of more space. The children are working hard to help raise the funds to build additional classrooms. Come out and show your support and help them to reach their goal! Donations for plate dinner of Brisket, Sausage, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Beans, and Dessert. Mildred Baptist Church will host The Goldenaires Senior Adult Choir from First Baptist Church, Richardson in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012. This 165-voice choir was founded in 1984 and has sung locally as well as on the national stage. Their most recent endeavor was to sing and minister in prisons in and around the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. About 65 members of the choir will come for the concert in Mildred, as the choir will send out portions of the choir twice annually  to perform in smaller churches outside the metroplex. The public is cordially invited to be a special guest of Mildred Baptist Church for this great musical event. The concert is free.



 Calvary Baptist Church, 308 E. 11th Ave., invites you to join its congregation in celebrating its Pastor and Wife, Leon and Yolanda Tates, in an Appreciation Service. Guest speaker will be Apostle David Ransom of Cornerstone Full Gospel Church of Fairfield, and he will be joined by the all male chorus and Brother Paul Lewis. This service will be 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012. All are welcome.



Missionary Baptist Church is located at 405 S. 15th Street in Corsicana. Special services and times are scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 7. Dr. David Gonnella is returning Sunday to conduct services at the 10:45 a.m. morning worship hour. Dr. Gonnella is currently pastor of Landmark Baptist Church in Rockdale. He is currently under consideration to become pastor of Missionary Baptist in Corsicana. Sunday services will include lunch in the church Fellowship Hall immediately following the morning worship. The normal 4 p.m. afternoon worship service will be held immediately after lunch at approximately 1:15 p.m. The regular 9:45 am Sunday School will remain unchanged. Everyone is welcome to come and join in worship, singing, teaching and fellowship. Members are especially encouraged to be present for these special services. Wednesday evening prayer services and bible study have been very informative and beneficial to all. The Wednesday evening service meets at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. God has graciously answered many prayers. There are many more for which we continue to seek God's blessings. God is faithful to answer when called upon.



Amelia Barton Church of the Living God, 917 G.W. Jackson St., will serve plate lunches and baked goods from 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 until all good are sold. The Liberty Tabernacle family and Pastor Waites at 2708 W. Eighth Ave. invite you to “A Time of Refreshing” with guest evangelist Pastor Kenneth Fletcher of the Living Word Christian Fellowship Church. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 16, 17 and 18, with intercessory prayer at 6:20 nightly.  Pastor Fletcher was called into the ministry in 1993 while serving in the U.S. Army. During the following 10  years, while serving as the assistant pastor of New Zion Christian Fellowship in Killeen, he conducted revival meetings throughout Texas, Korea, Louisiana, Missouri, Colorado and Georgia. Blessed by the Lord with a very unique, prophetic annointing, in 2003, he founded the Living Word Christian Fellowship in Corsicana where he now serves as senior pastor with his wife Tamara of 24 years. The Fletchers have four children. Unity Baptist Church, 101 S. 30th St., where Chad Owens is pastor, invites you to services: Sunday School 9:45 a.m.  Sunday-  worship and children’s church at 11 a.m., Training Classes at 5 p.m., worship at 6 p.m., and Wednesday - Mid Week Service at 7 p.m. Kings Kids class meets the Second and Fourth Wednesdays of each month. Tuesday, a group from Unity visits shut-ins and at 7 p.m. we will have Phoebes, our Ladies Meeting.  Debbie Owens will give the devotional.  Thursday, there is a Bible study at Northwest Apartments Community Center at 7 p.m.  Sunday, a group teaches and sings at Twilight Nursing Home at 9 a.m. and another group sings at Country Meadows at 2 p.m. For transportation to services, call (903)872-2861. Dayspring Fellowship, 111 W. Collin, invites you to worship on Sundays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. This church is no longer located at the Taylorosa, but rather downtown on W. Collin. God's  Holy Temple COGIC located at 301 E. Third Ave. will celebrate  its second year of service at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 with special guest Pastor Ernie Samples of West; Kelly's Temple COGIC, Pastor Billy Joe Kelly; Open Door COGIC, Pastor David Thompson; Trinity Bibleway COGIC, Pastor Dennis Albert;  Roane Chapel Full Gospel, Pastor Harold Evans; Taylors Memorial COGIC, Pastor F. G. Taylor; Greater Love Outreach Fellowship Church,  Pastor William Lewis will bring the message. Everyone is welcome to come celebrate the works of the Lord with us. Pastor Eric Grant and Lady Jackie Grant are ministers.



Love Chapel Baptist Church located at 400 North Benton Street where David E. Wilson serves as Pastor and Sharron D. Wilson serves as Minister will observe its Sunday School Annual at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012.  The spoken word  will be  brought by Pastor Donne' Watson who serves as Pastor of the New Cornerstone Baptist Church.  The public is cordially invited to worship with us in this service.

Crackpots  is a 55-plus group that gathers for fun and food.  We invite all seniors in the community to join us.  Our next meeting is Thursday, Oct. 11, 6:30 p.m. at the Cowboy Church of Ennis (I45 exit 244).  We will have a pot luck dinner, followed by the singing of Kenneth Cashion, the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church.
