Corsicana — April 20

The American Legion, Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will have a Fish Fry with all the trimmings from 4 to 8 p.m.  Price is $10 per plate (all you can eat) or $6 per plate for carry out.  The Post will be rocking with the One Less Monkey band starting at 9 p.m.

Dawson Lions Club invites all to come eat and bid for a bargain on items supplied by handicrafters and local merchants to help the Lions Club of Dawson support the community.  Most of the proceeds will go to fund Dawson ISD projects and scholarships.  Join us at the Dawson ISD cafeteria at the end of Third street which runs past the Methodist Church off Main Street.  Bring an item for the auction and make a donation for the meal and then bid and take your prizes home.  The eating will start at 5 p.m. and continue through the auction.  To donate an item for bidding or to purchase a ticket for a new TV or for more information call Pat Phagan at (254) 578-3868.  By the way ask for a membership form and join the roaring Lions to help the Bulldogs.

The VFW Post 3366 will have its end of the month dance on April 20 due to Derrick Days being on the 27th.  The band will be Heart of Texas Road Gang! Dance starts at 8 p.m. and will end around midnite. There is no cover charge. Donations will be accepted to help pay the band. Come out for a great night of fellowship and dancing.

Books open at 12 noon, roping begins at 1 p.m. Alternate rainout date is May 4, same time and location. Admission is free, donations will be accepted for the Rylance Memorial Fund. The first event will be completely to help the family of Rylance, who passed away Dec. 28, 2012 at the age of 10 months and 18 days, with hospital and burial expenses. There will be a silent auction following the roping events, with a grand prize for the roping being a Two-Horse slant bumper trailer with walk-in tack room. Concession stand will be provided by Cowboy Church. Each year’s event following the inaugural event will go towards a scholarship in Rylance’s name.
