The 37-year-old Emmett resident was a volunteer with the Navarro Mills and Mertens fire departments, and was attending Hill College Fire Academy, and doing his EMT training in West. He is survived by a wife and two sons. They are expecting a third child in November.

He did not have any life insurance.
