A suspect being held in connection with the shooting death of a Corsicana woman Wednesday morning has been charged with manslaughter.
Friday afternoon, Det. Michael Dockery served an arrest warrant for manslaughter on Darwon Demonte Richardson, 27, of Corsicana, at the Navarro County Jail. The warrant was issued by Justice of the Peace Jackie Freeland.
Richardson had been held in custody at the jail since Wednesday on a 72-hour investigative hold for murder in connection with the shooting death of LeQuiria Chaney, 25, of Corsicana.
The shooting occurred about 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday outside a residence in the 1700 block of East Sixth Avenue. Police were called to the home after a report of shots being fired in the area, and found the victim outside the home suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at Navarro Regional Hospital.
The warrant for manslaughter was obtained and served after consultation with Navarro County District Attorney Lowell Thompson.
