Church News for June 21, 2013

The Love Chapel Baptist Church located at 400 North Benton Street will celebrate the Ninth Pastoral Anniversary of their Pastor, David E. Wilson and Wife, Minister Sharron D. Wilson at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013.  God has blessed Pastor and Minister Wilson and they are dedicated and faithful servants unto God and the ministry at the Love Chapel Baptist Church.  The theme for this occasion is: "Commissioned To Preach The Gospel" from the scripture text  II Cor. 4:1-5.  Guest churches are: Johnson Memorial COGIC, Elder Joseph Johnson, Sr., Pastor;  Church Of The Living God, Bishop Annell Haney, Pastor; Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Alvin E. Smith; and Liberty Tabernacle of God, Pastor Erma J. Waites. The spoken word will be brought by Pastor Erma J. Waites. The public is cordially invited to attend.

Wesley United Methodist Church will welcome its new minister, Rev. Kevin Diggs, his wife Amy, and daughter Grace at the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, June 23, 2013. A lunch will be enjoyed after the service. All are welcome to come fellowship with us.

The DIVAS 2 (Divinely, Inspired, Virtuous, Anointed Sisters) Women’s Ministry of the Liberty Tabernacle of God, 2708 W. Eighth Ave., and the Pastor Erma Waites invite you to attend “You Don’t Know My Story” at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 29. Guest speaker will be Co-pastor/Evangelist Sandra Seals of the Harvest Worship Center in Hillsboro, Pastor Tommy Seals. Evangelist Seals is head of the women’s department at the church and enjoys working with women of all ages and from all walks of life. The selected scripture is Prov. 27:17 — Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. The purpose of the meeting is to encourage all who are in ministry, those who had not accepted their purpose in ministry, or those thinking of leaving the ministry due to its trials and tribulations.   • City cancels ambulance contract with county

    The City of Corsicana has notified Navarro County officials it is cancelling its agreement with the county to provide EMS ambulance service to areas outside the city limits. According to a letter sent to county officials by Corsicana Mayor Chuck McClanahan, ambulance service to county residents will end on Jan. 31, 2015.

    The project to rebuild Seventh Avenue or Highway 31 as it goes through Corsicana is almost over. From an uneven patchwork of paving and pitted concrete, now it’s a smooth ride from Beaton all the way through town.
    It just took an extra year to finish.

    An attempt to bootleg electricity off a pole using jumper cables is believed to have caused a building fire that took out a former restaurant in Angus Friday morning, one of a series of calls to Navarro County Sheriff’s Office to the southern end of the county over the weekend.

These were among the fun science projects at Tuesday’s 4-H Discovery Days event at the Navarro County Youth Expo.
