Corsicana — One suspect is in custody and a second is being sought in connection with an early morning robbery Saturday at Arizona Charlie's Bingo Hall in Rice.

The thief ran in, grabbed a cash machine and fled for a waiting escape vehicle, according to Rice Police Chief Larry Cheek.

“They went south and wrecked out at the 238 overpass,” he said. “One arrest was made, a white female. We’re still looking for the white male. We’ve got a warrant out for him.”

The suspects are not from Rice, they’re from Ellis County area, Cheek said.

Also responding to the call were deputies with the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office, according to Sheriff Elmer Tanner.

Navarro County Sheriff Elmer Tanner said county deputies responded along with Rice Police to the call about 6 a.m. Saturday when an employee of the bingo hall reported two suspects had taken a cash machine from the building.

The suspect in custody is presently being held on outstanding warrants, and authorities believe they know the identity of the second suspect, Tanner said.

“They county’s been helping me a lot,” Cheek said. “The sheriff offered any kind of assistance they could.”
