Tips for property tax payers

Deadline for current taxes is Thursday

Corsicana — Navarro County Tax Assessor/Collector Russell Hudson has his plan ready for a busy Thursday in the tax office at the Navarro County Courthouse.

Thursday, Jan. 31, is the last day to pay current property taxes without being subject to late fees and penalties.

He expects things to be busy, but is making some special accommodations to take care of last-minute tax payers.

“We’ll be open until 5 p.m., or when the last person in line is served,” Hudson said.

For taxpayers who have everything ready to go, there will also be a special “drop box” set up at the courthouse for taxpayers to deposit their bills and payments in, he added.

Property taxes can also be paid online through a link from the county’s website, and taxpayers have until midnight on Thursday to make online payments using credit cards or electronic checks. Fees apply for both of those transactions, Hudson said.

Another option — payment by mail — is also available. Provided the payment is postmarked by Jan. 31, it will also be credited as paid on time.
