Word of Life Tabernacle COGIC, 200 E. 18th Ave., and it’s Women’s Department will sponsor a Valentine’s Tea at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. The theme is “Love Worth Finding.” Eldress Valorie Horn will speak on the topic “A Love you can count on.”
Eldress Horn is a member of Taylor Memorial Total Man Ministries where she serves under the Elder Floyd Taylor. She is the daughter of Elder Willie and Missionary Vergie Brown, and is the wife of Mr. Clarence W. Horn, and mother to Brittney and Taylor Horn. The Lord saved her at the age of 12 and called her to the ministry at age 16. Horn was licensed as an evangelist in 2000, and as an elder in 2008. She has directed the choir since age 14, and served as choir president for 15 years. Horn also serves as assistant Sunday School secretary and a Sunday School teacher.
The public is invited to come and hear this Great Woman of God. Along with Eldress Horn, First Lady Loretta Albert of Trinity Bibleway COGIC will lead music along with special guests from Dallas, the Spiritual Disciple. Bethlehem Baptist Church, 409 N. Third St., will have a Pre-Valentine Banquet sponsored by the Sanctuary Choir. The theme is “Whisper of Love,” from John 15:12 and I John 4:7-8. The banquet will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Bethlehem Baptist Fellowship Building. Pastor Dairy G. Johnson Sr., Moderator NRSDA. Pastor Dwayne Moffitt Sr. will be the speaker for this event. He is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Trinity Cathedral Of Praise Church (T.C.O.P.) in the West Dallas area. The church is planning to open its second location (T.C.O.P. Church- South) in March of this year. Also, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 the church will celebrate Black History Month with a special service “The Sound of Freedom.” Guest speaker is Evangelist Valorie Horn of Taylor Memorial COGIC.
Kelly’s Temple COGIC, 501 N. Third St., Corsicana, will host its annual one-day Valentine Revival at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10. The theme is “God is Love and Love is God” from John 3:16. Speaker of the hour is Evangelist Charlise Dawson. Missionary Baptist Church, 405 S. 15th Street in Corsicana is pleased to welcome Bro. Mark Smith and his wife of Texas City to the Sunday services. Bro. Bethel A.M.E. Church, 101 N. Fourth St., invites you to the Women Missionary Society Annual Prayer Breakfast. Guest speaker will be Rev. Wesley United Methodist Church has started its afterschool program “Noah’s Kids.” If you know a third, fourth or fifth grader who would benefit from Noah’s Kids, please call (903) 874-0718. The program will focus on how to care for God’s creation through Bible studies, crafts, gardening, and snacks will be provided. Noah’s Kids is every Tuesday from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m.
First Baptist Church announces the beginning of V.I.P.’s, designed to minister to Very Important People (children with special needs). If you have a child with special needs, you may bring him/her to Sunday School at 9:45 Sundays in the Fourth Floor Room E405 (purple door). Someone will be there to meet you, find out more information about your child and his/her needs, and match them up with a “buddy” (aide). From there, your child will be placed in an age-appropriate classroom with their buddy. There is a “purple room” for children who may need less stimulation for a time, or a medically-fragile child, or one who requires more individualized attention. During the contemporary worship service at 11 a.m., you may choose to take your child into worship service with you, or children with special needs may remain in the VIP Room on the Fourth Floor after Sunday School with adult special needs people. When Kidzpraise (Children’s Church) begins, the VIP students will transition down the hall to join that service with their “buddy” (aide). After the contemporary service ends, you may pick up your child from the Kidzpraise Room (Fourth floor Room E411). Kids (and adults) with special needs and their families are loved and welcome at FBC Corsicana!
Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, located at 4495 W. State Hwy. 22, invites all to join us for our Sunday Church Services starting at 10 a.m. We have nursery for babies through age 2 years and activities for 3 and 4 year olds. Children ages 5 through 12 are invited to meet in the children’s building for Children’s Church. Intercessors for Navarro County Men’s Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. Wednesdays. After meeting at various local churches through the holidays, the men returned to the usual meeting place at Navarro College on Jan. 16. Grief Share, sponsored by Northside Baptist Church, meets from 5 to 7 p.m. each Sunday at the Fellowship Center on Forest Lane (across the street from Northside). This is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. Grief Share is a non-denominational group and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time. The New Bethel Baptist Church, 700 Elm Flat Road, Goodlow, Pastor Earnest Betts Jr., will host a FREE male screening at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 until 2 p.m. The screening will be sponsored by the Methodist System of Dallas. Frost Community Center in conjunction with Hillsboro First United Pentecostal Church will hold a benefit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2013. They will sell homemade fudge, Valentine gift baskets, cakes, cookies, brownies and miscellaneous items.
