Corsicana — Word of Life Tabernacle COGIC, 200 E. 18th Ave., and it’s Women’s Department will sponsor a Valentine’s Tea at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. The theme is “Love Worth Finding.” Eldress Valorie Horn will speak on the topic “A Love you can count on.”

Eldress Horn is a member of Taylor Memorial Total Man Ministries where she serves under the Elder Floyd Taylor. She is the daughter of Elder Willie and Missionary Vergie Brown, and is the wife of Mr. Clarence W. Horn, and mother to Brittney and Taylor Horn. The Lord saved her at the age of 12 and called her to the ministry at age 16. Horn was licensed as an evangelist in 2000, and as an elder in 2008. She has directed the choir since age 14, and served as choir president for 15 years. Horn also serves as assistant Sunday School secretary and a Sunday School teacher.

The public is invited to come and hear this Great Woman of God. Along with Eldress Horn, First Lady Loretta Albert of Trinity Bibleway COGIC will lead music along with special guests from Dallas, the Spiritual Disciple. Bethlehem Baptist Church, 409 N. Third St., will have a Pre-Valentine Banquet sponsored by the Sanctuary Choir. The theme is “Whisper of Love,” from John 15:12 and I John 4:7-8. The banquet will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Bethlehem Baptist Fellowship Building. Pastor Dairy G. Johnson Sr., Moderator NRSDA. Pastor Dwayne Moffitt Sr. will be the speaker for this event. He is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Trinity Cathedral Of Praise Church (T.C.O.P.) in the West Dallas area. The church is planning to open its second location (T.C.O.P. Church- South) in March of this year. Also, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 the church will celebrate Black History Month with a special service  “The Sound of Freedom.” Guest speaker is Evangelist Valorie Horn of Taylor Memorial COGIC.



Kelly’s Temple COGIC, 501 N. Third St., Corsicana, will host its annual one-day Valentine Revival at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10. The theme is “God is Love and Love is God” from John 3:16. Speaker of the hour is Evangelist Charlise Dawson.  Guest churches are God’s Holy Temple COGIC, Pastor Eric Grant; Trinity Bibleway COGIC, Pastor Dennis Albert; Kelly’s Temple Youth Group, Miss Chelsia Thigpen; Praise Dancing, Fort Worth, and others. Sponsor of the Youth Dept. is First Lady Ruthie Kelly, pastor Billy Joe Kelly.



The Liberty Tabernacle of God Church located at 2708 West Eighth Avenue is proud to announce the second Pastoral Anniversary for Pastor Erma J. Waites. The celebration will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 with the spoken word brought by Pastor Alvin E. Smith of the Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church. The theme for the occasion is “A God Sent Pastor” from the scripture Jeremiah 3:15. Petty's Chapel Baptist Church, 1300 FM 3041, where Elvin Sikes serves as Pastor would like to invite everyone to their worship services. Petty’s Chapel Baptist Church is located on Old Roane Road a half mile east of I-45.  Sunday worship begins at 8:30 a.m. There is a short time of fellowship and Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday night services begin at 6:30 p.m. We would also like to invite all young women to a special time of fellowship and Bible study - “Seeking answers to the trials and challenges of life.” Beginning on Feb. 9 it will continue on every second and fourth Saturday of each month. It will start at 11 a.m. and meet in the Fellowship Hall.  (Light lunch and childcare will be provided.)



Missionary Baptist Church, 405 S. 15th Street in Corsicana is pleased to welcome Bro. Mark Smith and his wife of Texas City to the Sunday services. Bro. Smith will be here in view of a call as pastor. He will participate in all scheduled Sunday services beginning at 9:45 a.m. for Sunday School, 10:50 a.m. for Morning Worship and 1:15 p.m. for Afternoon Worship (rather than the usual 4 p.m. time). Church wide lunch fellowship is planned immediately following the Morning Worship. All are welcome to be a part of one of these study and fellowship opportunities each Wednesday at 7 p.m. Missionary Baptist Church is grateful for God's continued blessings on the church. Word Alive Church, currently meeting at I.O.O.F., will host Dr. Jerry Savelle at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17. Since 1969, Savelle has traveled the world teaching people how to win in life. He is the host of the Jerry Savelle Ministries television broadcast which airs in 200 countries worldwide. Dr. Savelle is the author of more than 40 books, including his bestsellers, If Satan Can’t Steal Your Joy, He Can’t Keep Your Goods and Called to Battle, Destined To Win. He and his wife, Carolyn, also serve as founding Pastors of Heritage of Faith Christian Center in Crowley.



Bethel A.M.E. Church, 101 N. Fourth St., invites you to the Women Missionary Society Annual Prayer Breakfast. Guest speaker will be Rev. Linda Moore, Assistant pastor of Life Works Bible Church of Dallas. The men of Bethel will cook breakfast. Donations are $10. This will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at the church.



Wesley United Methodist Church has started its afterschool program “Noah’s Kids.” If you know a third, fourth or fifth grader who would benefit from Noah’s Kids, please call (903) 874-0718. The program will focus on how to care for God’s creation through Bible studies, crafts, gardening, and snacks will be provided. Noah’s Kids is every Tuesday from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m.



First Baptist Church announces the beginning of V.I.P.’s, designed to minister to Very Important People (children with special needs). If you have a child with special needs, you may bring him/her to Sunday School at 9:45 Sundays in the Fourth Floor Room E405 (purple door). Someone will be there to meet you, find out more information about your child and his/her needs, and match them up with a “buddy” (aide). From there, your child will be placed in an age-appropriate classroom with their buddy. There is a “purple room” for children who may need less stimulation for a time, or a medically-fragile child, or one who requires more individualized attention. During the contemporary worship service at 11 a.m., you may choose to take your child into worship service with you, or children with special needs may remain in the VIP Room on the Fourth Floor after Sunday School with adult special needs people. When Kidzpraise (Children’s Church) begins, the VIP students will transition down the hall to join that service with their “buddy” (aide). After the contemporary service ends, you may pick up your child from the Kidzpraise Room (Fourth floor Room E411). Kids (and adults) with special needs and their families are loved and welcome at FBC Corsicana!



Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, located at 4495 W. State Hwy. 22, invites all to join us for our Sunday Church Services starting at 10 a.m. We have nursery for babies through age 2 years and activities for 3 and 4 year olds. Children ages 5 through 12 are invited to meet in the children’s building for Children’s Church. We also have the following activities, Monday Nights at 7 p.m., Mounted Shooting; Tuesday Night 7 p.m., Team Roping and Women’s fellowship. 7 p.m. each Wednesday is Bible Study and Youth Service. Barrel racing is held at 7 p.m. on Thursdays. Everyone is welcome. Saturday, Feb. 16 is the Sweetheart Dinner/Ball, Dinner served 5 to 7 p.m., Ball starts at 7 p.m.

Intercessors for Navarro County Men’s Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. Wednesdays. After meeting at various local churches through the holidays, the men returned to the usual meeting place at Navarro College on Jan. 16. Grief Share, sponsored by Northside Baptist Church, meets from 5 to 7 p.m. each Sunday at the Fellowship Center on Forest Lane (across the street from Northside). This is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. Grief Share is a non-denominational group and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time. The New Bethel Baptist Church, 700 Elm Flat Road, Goodlow, Pastor Earnest Betts Jr., will host a FREE male screening at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 until 2 p.m. The screening will be sponsored by the Methodist System of Dallas. All men are welcome to come. On Sunday, Feb. 3 at 4 p.m., New Bethel will host a Christian baptism. The Bethany Baptist Church, 1900 Mulberry Lane, Corsicana, will hold its Annual Kingdom Men Seminar at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. Every boy or man is invited to come and enjoy this free event. Guest lecturers are Pastor Dan Layne of Dayspring Fellowship, and Deacon Lester Dewberry of the People’s Missionary Baptist Church, Tyler. Deacon Dewberry also serves as First Vice Layman President of the Original East Texas Baptist Association.



Pilgrim Rest P.B. Church Brotherhood, 1009 S. Fourth St., will host a Valentine’s Banquet at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. There will lots of entertainment and dinner. The public is invited. The Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 2105 E. Jones Ave. is celebrating its pastor and wife’s 11th year at the church Sunday, Feb. 10. Theme: A Passionate Shepherd with a clear vision. Habakkuk 2:3. At the 11 a.m. service, Bro. Kevin Cole will have love expressions on the pastor and wife and Rev. Frank Randall of the Greater Golden Gate Baptist Church of Dallas where Fabian Jacko serves as pastor, will bring the message. At 3 p.m. service, Sis. Cathy Cole will be in charge of the program all evening with welcome and occasion. Guest churches will be The Bethlehem Baptist Church, Pastor Dairy Johnson; Mount B. Brown Chapel AME Church in Pelham invites each one of you to its recognition Sunday honoring Clarence McDade and all Vietnam Veterans on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 11:30 a.m.



Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, 125 S. Fifth St., will host its Annual Men Day at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10. Special guest will be Pastor David Wilson of Love Chapel Baptist Church. Frost Community Center in conjunction with Hillsboro First United Pentecostal Church will hold a benefit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2013. They will sell homemade fudge, Valentine gift baskets, cakes, cookies, brownies and miscellaneous items. Money raised will go toward funding the trip for the children of the church to travel to competition where they will recite memorized Psalms. Children are aged 6 through 18.
