The Corsicana Art League will hold an exhibit at the Warehouse Living Arts Theatre Gallery.

Feb. 19, 21-23

The Warehouse Living Arts Center Theatre will open its 42nd season with THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES by Roger Bean. This must-take trip down memory lane is filled with favorite popular hits for the 50's and 60's.  The talented cast are Samantha Clayborn, Cristin Denbow, Emily Hines and Angel Sims. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinee on Feb. 17 begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at the Warehouse Living Arts Center which is located at 119 West Sixth Ave. across from the post office. This is the first show of the 2013 Season Ticket series. Tickets will also be available at the door as long as seats are available. Feb. 19

Corsicana Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be at the Corsicana YMCA from 2 to 7 p.m. If you are low income (usually under $42K) or elderly, and in need of tax filing assistance, take advantage of this free program. This year VITA will see clients with appointments first and then work with walk-ins. VITA is at the YMCA on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at the Kerens Library on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Call George Burrell at (903) 879-2091 to schedule your appointment.

Navarro County Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance meets at 6 p.m. each Tuesday, in the fellowship hall at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 N. 14th St., Corsicana.  All are welcome to learn to give and receive support at the weekly meetings. On the first Tuesday of the month, Dr. Tom Sheriff, licensed psychologist, joins the group discussions on various aspects of mental health.     Navarro Regional Hospital has named Sandy Baker as 2013 Employee of the Year. This award is the highest honor bestowed on a hospital employee each year. Baker was chosen from among 327 fellow employees for the honor.

  • YMCA warns against woman fraudulently soliciting funds

    A woman has been soliciting funds, falsely portraying herself as representing the YMCA, Executive Director Terry Seth reported late Wednesday afternoon. A business owner in town informed Seth a lady solicited his business, saying she was raising money for the YMCA for a program for deaf children. Seth says the YMCA does not have such a program.

  • Wine and walking

    About a dozen local businesses are opening their doors for the Derrick Days Wine and Cheese stroll this year, and many are only doing it as an open house opportunity.

    The stroll is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. April 24 in downtown Corsicana. It's free and open to the public.
