Feb. 1-December

The Navarro College Police Academy will be hosting a Firefighter Shift Police Academy Feb. 1 through December for firefighters who need to attain their TECLEOSE certification. Classes will be held on the Corsicana Fire Department’s C-shift. Most weeks will have two class sessions. A few weeks will have three classes. Instruction will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on class days. All classes will be held at Navarro College’s Police Academy, 3200 W. 7th Ave. Cost will be $1,875. For more information, please contact Rachel W. The Corsicana Art League will hold an exhibit at the Warehouse Living Arts Theatre Gallery.

February 14-17, 19, 21-23

The Warehouse Living Arts Center Theatre will open its 42nd season with THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES by Roger Bean. This must-take trip down memory lane is filled with favorite popular hits for the 50's and 60's.  The talented cast are Samantha Clayborn, Cristin Denbow, Emily Hines and Angel Sims. The opening will be Thursday, Feb. 14 which includes the opening night reception immediately following the show. Other performances will be February 15-16, 19, 21-23. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinee on Feb. 17 begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at the Warehouse Living Arts Center which is located at 119 West Sixth Ave. across from the post office. This is the first show of the 2013 Season Ticket series. Tickets will also be available at the door as long as seats are available. Feb. 20

Corsicana Volunteer Income Tax  Assistance (VITA) will be at the Kerens Public Library from 1 to 4 p.m. each Wednesday until  April 11. If you are a low income (usually under $42K) or elderly, and in need of tax filing assistance, take advantage of this free program. This year we are seeing clients with appointments first and then we’ll work with our walk-ins. VITA will be at the YMCA in Corsicana on Tuesday and Thursday from 2 until 7 p.m. and Wednesdays in Kerens at the library from 1 until 4 p.m.  Call George Burrell at (903) 879-2091 to schedule your appointment.
