Corsicana — Editor's note: Updated at 10:46 a.m. with additional info from CPD, corrects child's age to 3.
Corsicana Police are investigating a reported self-inflicted shooting involving a 3-year-old child.
Police were summoned to a home in the 300 block of North 30th Street shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Corsicana Police Chief Randy Bratton said a man identifying himself as the child's father called 9-1-1 and told dispatchers his 3-year-old child had shot himself in the head.
Bratton said the injured child was taken by ground ambulance to Navarro Regional Hospital, then taken by air ambulance to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.
Bratton said detectives were at both the scene of the shooting and the hospital working the case Wednesday night.
The extent of the child's injuries was not immediately available. Bratton said a hand gun was the firearm involved in the self-inflicted wound.
