Corsicana — Family Fun Night at the Rice Intermediate School will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the school. There will be hot dog dinners for $2 per plate; student science fair projects for third through eighth grades; and a Living Museum.
The City of Corsicana Police Department will hold an Open House on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, from 4 to 5 p.m. Citizens are welcome to visit the Police Department for a brief tour of the recently remodeled facility. Tours will begin in the lobby of the Police Department (entrance on Fifth Avenue side of the Government Center, 200 N. 12th Street).
A Closer Look at Poverty, a lunch series about poverty-related needs in Navarro County, will be held from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The Kinsloe House will host the program luncheon at 12 noon at the Kinsloe House. Sandra McClure Mahood, executive director of the Warehouse Living Arts Theatre, will give a delightful book review of “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society.” This is a delightful book by Mary Ann Shaffeer and Annie Barrows which relates the facts and happenings on the Isle of Guernsey during the occupation by the Germans in WW II. The Ninth Annual VOICE Spring Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. at The Cook Center. The VOICE Spring Luncheon is a traditional fundraiser held each year to gain support for VOICE programs and services provided to children and families. This year will feature a red-carpet style theme with a fashion show, a silent auction, and will be emceed by national renowned Joan Rivers impersonator Ellie Weingardt.
