Through July 31

The Navarro Council of the arts presents "With Six You Get Eggrolls" A Fine Art Exhibit featuring the works of Helen Albritton, Barbara Jones, Gladys Espenson, Deb Miller, Stephanie Ford, and Margie Taylor at the Warehouse Gallery from May 15 to July.  Exhibit is free and open to the public daily.  



Through May 25

 The Warehouse Living Arts Center presents the second show of the 2013 season ticket series. “The 39 Steps” will play for seven performances beginning Thursday, May 16. Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. The talented cast is led by Todd Jones featuring WLAC veterans Mark Bedgood, Emily Hines, Frank Means and Adam Walthall. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. The matinee on Sunday, May 19 begins at 2 p.m. The theatre is located at 119 W. Sixth Avenue in downtown Corsicana across from the post office. May 22

The Kinsloe House will host the program luncheon at 12 noon at the Kinsloe House. Sandra McClure Mahood, executive director of the Warehouse Living Arts Theatre, will give a delightful book review of “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society.” This is a delightful book by Mary Ann Shaffeer and Annie Barrows which relates the facts and happenings on the Isle of Guernsey during the occupation by the Germans in WW II.  Members are reminded that reservations and cancellations are due in by noon May 20 by calling (903) 874-7591. This will be a delightful outing for members of Kinsloe.



May 23

The Ninth Annual VOICE Spring Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. at The Cook Center. The VOICE Spring Luncheon is a traditional fundraiser held each year to gain support for VOICE programs and services provided to children and families. This year will feature a red-carpet style theme with a fashion show, a silent auction, and will be emceed by national renowned Joan Rivers impersonator Ellie Weingardt. The Corsicana Newcomers' Club will meet at the Kinsloe House at 11 a.m. Virginia Riddle will be the guest speaker. Call Marge Oslick at (903) 872-3508 for more information and confirmed reservations.



Eureka Crime Watch will hold its annual community picnic at 6 p.m. on the grounds of Eureka United Methodist Church. Meat, bread and drinks will be furnished as well as plates and eating utensils. Please bring a covered dish and/or a dessert with serving utensils and your lawn chairs. The public is invited, so gather up your family and enjoy this wonderful evening of fellowship and good food!



Corsicana Apartment Association will hold a dinner meeting at 5:30 p.m. (social time) at Kinsloe House, 618 W. Third Ave. Guest speaker this month will be Paul Hooper, president and executive director of the Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce. Mildred Eagle Cheerleaders will host a hamburger basket fundraiser at the Mildred LIttle League games starting at 5:30 p.m. Kono-Ice Sno-Cones, Bounce House, Face & Hair Painting, Cotton Candy  plus many local vendors will be set up to display and sell their items. Each hamburger basket sold will come with a chance to win a prize through out the evening!  Hamburgers/Fries are $5. The American Legion Post 22, 632 N. K.E.S.A. is raising money to build a Veterans Memorial in downtown Kerens. K.E.S.A. will host a fish fry to raise money for the Memorial from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adult plates are $8 and kids 10 and under cost $4 per plate. Please come out and support this effort to recognize veterans in Kerens. All proceeds from Fish Fry will go the Veteran Memorial. Your support and donations will be appreciated. Pelham Memorial Day Activities will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Beautification of Graves (bring flowers). A program will follow with music, poetry, speakers and honoring veterans. This program will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church in Pelham, and is dedicated in honor of Cecilia Heiskell, Katherine Thomas, Katherline Joiner, Martha Blaine, Theodore Brackens, Faye McBay, Theresa Davis, Velmarie McMullan, Alsa McMullan and Imogene Biggins. There will be a raffle following the program, and lunch will be served at the Pelham Community Center followed by a museum tour and visit. Cemetery dues are $20 per year. Families who have not paid their dues owe $40 at burial. Make all checks payable to The Pelham Cemetery Fund. The association appreciates families purchasing markers to avoid lost graves.



May 26

Corsicana Music Fest for West will take place beginning at 1 p.m. at The Remington. Weather permitting outside stages will be used. Since many families in West are without insurance, this event is to raise cash to help those families. Bring your family, as there will be a bounce house for kids and the restaurant will be open. There will be an auction, as well. Bands scheduled to perform include Bryan Smith Band, Debbie Carter and Five-Lane Highway, The Groove Tones, One Less Monkey Band, Courtney Prator Band, Kaufman County Line Band, Sloane McCain Band, AC Copeland and Friends (AC is keyboardist for Casey Donohue Band), Byron Haynie, Shane Holcomb, and Ira Bradford, and other acts possible. Memorial Day Service at Woodland Memorial Cemetery will be held at 1 p.m. Guest speaker will be Col. Bill Downey, the grandson of legendary first black veterinarian in the state of Texas. The theme will be “Gone, But Not Forgotten.” Sponsored by the Single Believers Ministries and Woodland Cemetery Association. All are welcome to come acknowledge all men and women who fought for the country. When Are We Going Home Ministry will hold its Spirit Sent Music Ministry at New Beginnings Family Fellowship in Blooming Grove at 6 p.m. with its Annual Luau Party. The Navarro County Republican Women will meet at the Republican Headquarters, 111-B West Third Avenue.  Social time and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by the meeting and program at noon. This month's program features Steve Dieterichs, Director of Corsicana Main Street. Kerens Independent School District announces the retirement of Amy Carr. We invite you to join Mrs. Carr in celebrating 35 years of service dedicated to educational leadership, academic excellence, and love of students and faculty at Kerens Elementary, as well as Corsicana Independent School District. There will be a reception to honor Mrs. Carr at the KISD Board Room from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Navarro County AARP will meet at 2 p.m. at Northwest Apartments Community Room, 1360 N. 13th Ave. We plan to have a games day with our members and guests. Please come and make this a great meeting. City of Corsicana presents “Boots ‘N Brews” in its Second Saturday event series from 4 to 9 p.m. in downtown Corsicana. Activities include microbrew tastings, stick horse rodeo, salsa making competition and pony rides. The Navarro Regional Hospital Teen Volunteer Program will begin on June 10th.  If you have a teenager between the ages 14-18 and they want to learn more about the medical field and earn volunteer hours, our summer program is just right for them.  It is a great learning experience. The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m. The general public is invited to attend. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11th, 2013 at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.
