Six jailed in separate drug raids

Corsicana — The newly re-organized narcotics task force of the Corsicana Police Department has had a busy week, with the arrest of six individuals since early Tuesday.

Corsicana Police Chief Randy Bratton said Cpl. Paul Jock is heading up the unit, and led detectives serving two narcotics search warrants in as many days.

Four individual were arrested in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 24, in a search of a home in the 400 block of South 24th Street.

Bratton identified those arrested as Robert Newland, 52, of Corsicana; Lindsay Shumate, 22, of Waxahachie; Misty Talley, 37, of Corsicana; and Mitchell Rollins, 58, also of Corsicana.

Bratton said the four were charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance over four grams/under 200 grams.

“Officers found a significant amount of methamphetamine,” Bratton said.

Shumate and  Rollins were also charged with possession of marijuana under two ounces.

Justice of the Peace Vicki Gray set bonds of $200,000 each on the four persons arrested.

Tuesday evening, acting on information received in a “tip,” police arrested two individuals during a narcotics search in the 500 block of West Third Avenue.

Lee Ann Collums, 53 of Corsicana, and Misti Gonzales, 41, of Corsicana, were both arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance under one gram. Gonzales was also charged with possession of dangerous drugs, and Collums was charged with possession of marijuana under two ounces.

Gray set bonds totaling $6,500 on Collums and $4,000 on Gonzales.

Bratton praised the work of the officers in the two cases.

“The newly re-organized narcotics unit led by Cpl. Jock will continue to enforce the narcotics laws in Corsicana to help reduce crime and keep the community safer,” Bratton said. “These arrests are excellent examples of the first steps toward that goal.”
