Corsicana — On Wednesday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation searched a home at 1235 West Third Avenue in Corsicana, filling a van with boxes of items seized from the home.

“There is law enforcement activity and the FBI is on the scene,” confirmed Katie Chaumont, with the Dallas branch of the FBI. Chaumont would not confirm the reason for the federal presence.

According to property tax records, the search is at the home of Sandy Jenkins, a former comptroller with the Collin Street Bakery.

Jenkins’ employment with the bakery ended about three weeks ago, about the same time that a complaint was filed with the Corsicana Police Department regarding alleged misappropriation of funds or forgery from the business.

Bob McNutt, president of Collin Street Bakery, confirmed Wednesday that Jenkins was no longer with the company, but could not comment on reasons why Jenkins is no longer employed, or the scope of the investigation by federal authorities.

“There is an ongoing investigation, and I’m really not in a position to comment on their investigation,” McNutt said. “Certainly, we are fully cooperative with any and every thing that relates to the investigation.”

Corsicana Police Chief Randy Bratton confirmed that his agency had been requested to provide “perimeter security” for the federal agents, and two patrol vehicles and officers stood guard at the front gate of the home as agents went about their work.

More than a half-dozen agents entered and left the home repeatedly during the morning and afternoon search.

Two vehicles parked in the driveway of the home — a Mercedes and a Lexus — were loaded onto two trucks operated by a Dallas-area towing company.

Also on the scene was at least one employee of a locksmith firm in a marked truck, who left the scene shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

About 4 p.m. Wednesday, agents were seen carrying a large number of boxes from the home and loading them into two vans.

It is not known if Jenkins was in the home at the time of the search.
