Corsicana — A listing of meetings and events of interest from throughout Navarro County.

March 15

Corsicana Vendor’s Day will be held at 801 N. 13th St. from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This show will benefit the Navarro County Food Pantry. Vendors will do individual raffles for items at their booths with cash from these raffles being donated to the Food Pantry in order to purchase food in bulk from the food bank. Each customer that brings in items for the food pantry will be given an entry for the door prize. Five items equals five entries.

The Jackson Ex-Students Association will hold a bake sale and raffle at The Bears Den, 802 S. Second St., with all proceeds going to the JESA Scholarship Fund. Delicious cakes and pies, including buttermilk pies, sweet potato pies, pecan pies, and assorted cakes will be available. Contact Seri Nolan at (903) 493-0612 for $5 raffle tickets for a 32-inch flat screen television.

March 16

Benefit and Auction for Bruce Adams will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Remington Ranch Event Center, 122 W. Third Ave., Corsicana. On July 4, 2013, Adams suffered a stroke and was transported by air ambulance to Baylor. He had a second stroke in the emergency room, and was in the hospital for several months. Since he has not been able to return to work, family and friends are hosting this brisket lunch benefit and auction to help him with his mounting medical bills. Adams served as a volunteer firefighter for 15 years for the Navarro Volunteer Fire Department, and they are assisting with the auction. Ira Bradford and Bustin’ Loose will perform. There will be a raffle, door prizes, and an auction at 3 p.m. For more information contact Michelle at 903-641-8068.

March 17

Corsicana Art League will meet at 6 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center. Bruce Peil will do a demonstration for this meeting. Bruce is a talented artist from Athens, and is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and co-founder of the Outdoor Painters Society. Please join us and bring a friend.

    A baseball coach at heart, about a year ago Aaron Tidwell began to seriously focus on education administration. He just didn’t think an opportunity would present itself so soon. Mildred Independent School District board members approved the 31-year-old Corsicana native as the high school’s new principal Monday night.
