“Teaching a New Dog Old Tricks,” a family-friendly comedy, will be performed free in the Black Box Theatre on the second floor of the Albritton Administration Building on the Corsicana Campus of Navarro College.
Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, and Saturday, March 29, and Thursday, April 3. Two 2 p.m. Sunday matinees are scheduled for March 30 and April 6.
The play follows nine puppies as they attend a seminar in a dog park given by a Border Collie entitled, “Professor Pooch’s 4-Part Plan to Perfect Puppyhood.” Students participating in the production include Gus Allen, E. J. Bennett, Kat Canon, Philip Conley, Jake Defoore, Jamonte Gentry, Ema Hebron, Patrick Jeff, Keith Jordan, Brittnee Ransberger, Tristan Riddle, Lisette Takahasi, Michelle Tyler, Mahlon Ware, Forrest Wigington and Brittinee Williams.
The original play was written and is directed by Dr. Shellie O’Neal, chair of the Navarro College Theatre Department.
This play is Dr. O’Neal’s twenty-second original script and will mark her 10th anniversary of directing productions in the Black Box Theatre, which was re-opened in 2004. The Black Box was first opened in 1959 on the Navarro College campus and housed theater productions until the 1980s when it served as a Radio/T.V. studio.
The Humane Society of Navarro County will have literature available at each performance, providing information about their organization and services.
