The Corsicana City Council will be asked to approve the city manager’s appointment of a new librarian when it meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Monday.
Paul Phelan has been chosen to fill the position vacated by Chad Freeze in April. Phelan most recently worked as a library director for the city of Greenville, where the library received Achievement of Excellence awards for the past six consecutive years. City Council members will have a chance to meet Phelan during a work session scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Also on Monday’s agenda is approval of a new contract for electric service, approval of designating property as surplus for the purpose of disposal, and a settlement agreement with Oncor for the provision of street lighting service. Recent audits of street lights in the city found some billing irregularities that are addressed in the settlement and corrected going forward. The settlement will have Oncor paying the city $19,087.22 for the billing irregularities.
