Three held in drug bust

Corsicana — A traffic stop early Friday by a DPS trooper ended with three arrests and a large amount methamphetamine seized.

Sgt. Thomas Moore of the Texas Highway Patrol office in Corsicana said Trooper Bill Grauzer made the arrests, with assistance from Deputy Shane Richards of the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office.

Grauzer stopped a 2014 Chevy Tahoe on the outer road of Interstate 45 near the entry to Beaton Lake Estates shortly after 2 a.m. Friday for a traffic violation.

A search of the vehicle turned up 96 grams of methamphetamine, two grams of Ecstasy, and a loaded 9 mm Ruger handgun, Moore said.

Arrested during the stop was Joshua Patrick Black, 37, of Lancaster; Justin Glenn Reynolds, 31, of Corsicana; and Jennifer L. Reynolds, 25, of Corsicana.

Black was charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance over four grams/under 200 grams, possession of a controlled substance over one gram/under four grams, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Black’s bond was set at $350,000, and he was still jailed Monday according to Navarro County Sheriff Elmer Tanner.

Both Justin Reynolds and Jennifer Reynolds were charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance over four grams/under 200 grams, possession of a controlled substance over one gram/under four grams, and tampering physical evidence. They were both being held on bonds of $200,000 each, Tanner said Monday.

Deputy Richards was involved in two other drug arrests this past week, Tanner said.

On Thursday, June 26, Richards was dispatched to check the welfare of an individual at a motel on South U.S. Highway 287 when he observed a substance he believed to be cocaine in plain view in the room, Tanner said. Arrested was Shannon Drake, 35, of Corsicana, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance over one gram/under four grams.

Early Monday, Richards arrested a Katy man on numerous charges after he stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-45 near the 228 mile marker. Tanner said a search of the vehicle turned up approximately 3.8 grams of cocaine and 2.85 ounces of marijuana. Arrested was Austin Lee Hayes, 18, on charges of possession of a controlled substance over one gram/under four grams, possession of marijuana over two ounces/under four ounces, and possession or delivery of drug paraphernalia.

“I commend Deputy Richards for taking these drugs off the street,” Tanner said. “He is dedicated to taking drugs off the street and is doing a magnificent job of it from the patrol division.”
