Corsicana — A listing of meetings and events of interest from throughout Navarro County

July 1

The Sunbeam Club will enjoy lunch and fellowship at the Ennis IHOP at 11:30 a.m. Put on your red, white and blue as an early celebration of the Fourth of July. If you are a railroader who is active or retired, the relative of a railroader or a train lover,  you are invited to join this fellowship.

July 2

Eureka Crime Watch will hold the regular monthly meeting at the Eureka united Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend and join the celebration of the July 4 holiday. Bring your ideas for future programs and enjoy the fellowship with friends and neighbors. Refreshments will be served.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 22 will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post on North Beaton St. All members are urged to attend and visitors are welcome.

July 3

A special Red Cross Blood Drive will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Red Cross office at 701 West Second Avenue in Corsicana. Donors will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last. All types of blood are needed in this special blood drive. To make an appointment or for more information, call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

The Blooming Grove Crime Watch meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Historical Society building. Speaker will be County Judge H.M. Davenport. Everyone is welcome.

The Blooming Grove Historical Society will not meet this month but will instead have and entry in the Blooming Grove July 4 parade. We encourage all to participate in this patriotic day with the parade and events in the park. For more information call 903-673-2635 or 903-695-2633.

July 4

The Rotary Club Freedom Festival will be held at Corsicana’s I.O.O.F. Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be food, music, and games for the children. Fireworks will take place after dark. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and join the community for the celebration.
