Forage Workshop, Hay Show set Oct. 15

The annual Fall Forage Workshop and Hay Show is coming to the Navarro County Exposition Center on Monday, Oct. 15.

This educational program will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., and all are welcome to attend the dinner and program. The cost for each producer is $15 per person to cover dinner expenses. Hay Show participants will not pay this entry fee.

There will be three Texas Department of Agriculture Continuing Education Credits. This is a great opportunity to find out the latest in hay production and cover crop fertility. Each producer will benefit from this low cost program.

Topics to be covered include:                        

• Will Hatler, Extension Program Specialist:  Brush Control Equipment and Sprayer Calibration

• Dr. Vanessa Corriher, Assistant Professor and Extension Agronomist : Pasture Management During a Drought

• Dr. Jason Banta, Assistant Professor and Extension Beef Cattle Specialist: Factors Affecting Forage Quality

• Mike Wolfe, El Dorado Chemical: Fertility for Cover Crops

2012 Sponsors for the show and workshop include Ag Texas Farm Credit Services, Corsicana; ABC Fertilizer & Supply, Corsicana; Williams Gin and Grain in Frost; Texas Land Bank, Corsicana; and El Dorado Chemical Company, Corsicana.

Results from the 2012 Hay Testing Drive and supplemental feeding recommendations will be available on the 15th.
