Corsicana — Navarro College District President Dr. Richard Sanchez said Thursday that the Corsicana campus of the college would re-open on Friday following a bomb threat that shut down operations for one day.

Wednesday afternoon, an unindentified caller to the college said a bomb would detonate on campus sometime on Thursday.

Sanchez ordered the campus closed at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and all day Thursday while all buildings were searched and secured.

He said the college used a trained dog to search out the residence halls, dining hall and Gibson Hall recreation center, and found them to be clear of explosives, and approved for student use while the rest of the campus was closed.

Sanchez said they are still investigating the source of the telephone threat, and plans on returning to a normal schedule on the Corsicana campus on Friday.
