Child Nutrition update presented
Cohnie Harris, Child Nutrition Director, said the district has already implemented several new TDA guidelines for school food service, and updated trustees on improvements made in facilities and services. She said health inspections of the facilities have earned perfect scores at some campuses, and earned a remark of “the cleanest kitchens in Corsicana.” New TDA nutrition guidelines for breakfast meals are coming in 2013-2014.
May trustee election canceled
Trustees voted to cancel the May 11 trustee election, since only incumbents filed for the three positions open, those of Terry Seth, Fr. Ed Monk, and Scott Watkins. The district will still conduct a $54 million bond election on that date.
Data Center progress reported
Dr. Joe Young, deputy superintendent, said significant work has taken place on upgrading the CISD technology infrastructure, which eventually when built out will connect all campuses in the district to a central “data center” located at the Lee building on West Fourth Avenue. Young said initial work at the data center and at Corsicana High School is on track to be completed by summer, with work then extending out to other campuses.
