Corsicana — Big C Jamboree will take place at 7 p.m. at Martins Music Hall, 201 S. Beaton. Starring Chuck Wiginton, Zanada Tally, Ron Sikes, Joe Honea, Jody Thomas and Bobby Fluker, emcee, with Fred Hayes, Billy Roy Mitcham, and Stan Lawhon, and special guests Margie Holton and John Allred. The VFW Post 3366, 4609 W. State Highway 31, will host a dance from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight featuring Justin Hunter and the New Outlaws. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Oct. 14

Bobcat Bistro at the KESA Building in Kerens will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Kerens Ex-Students Association serves lunch the second Sunday of each month to raise money for its scholarship fund. Kerens Ex-Students cook and serve the meals. All are welcome to attend. On the menu this week are meatloaf or buttermilk pecan crusted chicken, choice of scalloped potatoes, carrots, red beans, orange congealed salad or tossed salad, with carrot cake or peach crisp for dessert. All are served with rolls, cornbread, tea or water for $8.95 per person. Children’s meals are $3.95 per child, and they have a choice of chicken nuggets or grilled cheese sandwich, along with a veggie, juice box and cookies. Tips are appreciated and are used for the endeavors of KESA. Stop by the Bobcat Bake Shoppe on your way out! Reservations not necessary but are appreciated, text (903) 654-8138.

Kinsloe House will present a very interesting program given by Cindy Burch, owner of the Dove’s Nest Restaurant in Waxahachie. She will tell about delicious recipes in her Dove’s Nest Cookbook. The attendees will be able to purchase her cookbook after the program.  She will give members some ideas for creating good meals for ourselves and our families. Ms. Burch writes a column for the Ellis Co. Living Magazine and travels extensively world-wide collecting recipes. Please call and make your reservations by noon on Oct. 15. Attendees will find that they can’t ever have too many recipes after her presentation.
