Corsicana — One suspect is in custody following reports of two armed robbery attempts in Corsicana Monday morning.
The first report came in shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, when police were called to the Tiger's Den on North 45th Street. Employees there say a man in a hoodie and wearing a mask pulled a gun and demanded employees open the store's safe. He reportedly left empty-handed, fleeing the area in a black pickup truck.
As Corsicana Police and Navarro County Sheriff's deputies searched for the suspect, police received another call of an armed robbery at the MQ Food Mart at 1900 North Beaton Street. The suspect's description and vehicle matched those in the attempt just minutes earlier.
Police and deputies discovered the fleeing vehicle and after a short pursuit apprehended the suspect on Belclaire near Dobbins Road.
We'll post more information as we receive it.
