Corsicana — A listing of meetings and events of interest from throughout Navarro County.

May 1

The National Day of Prayer will be recognized beginning with a Prayer Breakfast at First Baptist Church at 6:30 a.m. There will be different churches responsible for prayer services at the Courthouse lawn.  First Baptist will be holding the prayer time at 12 noon, and free sack lunches will be provided.  At 7:14 p.m., there will be a service at St. Luke's Methodist Church  at 2308 Bowie Drive.

Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Historical Society building. Guest speaker will be Les Cotten, former Navarro County Sheriff. Light refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend.

Navarro Regional Hospital's Healthy Woman presents its Sixth Anniversary Celebration with a Shopping Expo and dinner at the IOOF Event Center beginning at 5 p.m. Dale Smith Thomas will be the speaker. Angels of Corsicana Troop Support will hold its annual garage sale at 1020 N. Bus. 45. Volunteers are needed on Thursday, May 1 to come price items, and volunteers are needed both Friday and Saturday to help run the sale. For more information contact Jean O'Connor at (903) 851-2560.

Dresden Cemetery Association Annual Meeting will be held with a Memorial Service at 11 a.m., covered Lunch at noon, and a Business Meeting to follow at 1 p.m. Donations can be sent to Dresden Cemetery Assoc. Inc., P O Box 67, Blooming Grove, TX 76626.  For periodic updates “like” Dresden Cemetery on “Facebook”. 



When Are We Going Home Ministry and Break N Free Camp presents the Riding High Horsemanship Program to be held at 4719 NE CR 1040 in Rice. Call for directions and to RSVP to (903) 422-6120 (to get an accurate count). This event is free and open to all medically challenged, special needs and disabled children and foster children and their immediate siblings up to the age of 21. Lunch will be provided, just bring lawn chairs, yourself and your family. A handicapped ramp is available, as well as side/front walkers, and a playground. The event will include riding, saddling, safety, feeding and care of horses, and a short devotion.

The City of Richland will hold a Debt Free Festival from 4 to 8 p.m. at 103 W. Main St., Richland,  Sam's Restaurant will be catering the event.  Stan Lawhon and his band will be performing.  Tickets purchased in advance 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Civic Center in Richland.  Contact Sharon (903)362-3707.
