CHS One Act Play headed to state UIL competition

Corsicana — The Corsicana High School’s UIL One Act Play team is headed to the state competition in Austin.

The Tiger thespians got the good news Wednesday, after the regional competition at the University of Texas in Arlington, learning they would be joining McKinney North as the advancing finalists from Region II.

The state competition is held at the University of Texas in Austin on May 20 at the Bass Concert Hall. The Tiger team will perform at at either 4 p.m. or 7:30 p.m., according to information available from the school district. Results will be announced the following day.

“We are so proud of our One Act team,” said Herbert O’Neil Jr., principal of Corsicana High School. “Not only is this team talented, they are outstanding students who represent CHS and our community very well.”

The UIL One Act Play cast and crew of “Moby Dick Rehearsed!” includes Christian Minniear, Caitlin Pohland, Veronica Reyes, Kealey Parrish, Donovan Hailey, Danny Phillips, Tiano McDonald, Makayla Gibson, Reagan Fraze, Kaitlin Griffin, Logan Guerra, Irvin Horn, Reginald Brown, Isaiah Flores, Kayza Mallet, Hailey Herrin, Lexie Owen and Helen Hibbs. The play is directed by Gloria McLuckie and Blade Healey.

CHS competed against many talented schools from Frisco, The Colony, Dallas, Greenville, Longview, Arlington, Mansfield, Tyler, and Ellis County.
