Piecemakers’ Quilt Guild

Members numbering 48 were present Feb. 3 at the monthly meeting of the Piecemakers’ Quilt Guild of Corsicana. After a soup and cornbread lunch, well-known quilt instructor and author, Winnie Fleming, gave a presentation on how to miter quilt borders.

Come to the meeting March 3 and learn to make a quilted postcard. Member Susan Copeland will show various examples along with step-by-step instructions .

Guild meetings are held at the Westhill Church of Christ on the first Monday of the month. Visitors are welcome. Please join us and enjoy the knowledge, fellowship and fun.

Dawson Garden Club

Dawson Garden Club has awarded “Yard of the Month” for February to the home of Don Freeland at 520 S. Main in Dawson. Every month this landscape shows some improvement or new attraction. Congratulations on a real winner.

Kinsloe House

The Publicity Committee, headed by Cecelia Alexander, with Marianne Anderson, Marsha Banks, Jenna Hall, Mellie Howard, Virginia Martin, Gelene Simpson, and Christine Williams, will present a musical program for Valentine’s Day with Virginia Martin titled “Love Songs.”

Virginia will honor all of the pianists who have accompanied her in Corsicana: Carolyn Barnes, Vida Byrd,  Mary Gladney, Vicki Trimble, Joy Williamson, Pam Crawford, Pat Haba, Sheila Herod, Sandra Huffman, Annett Reid, Nancy Sloan, and Marjie Talkington. These ladies will be part of the program. The day will be like a “piano concert.” Members will not want to miss out on the fun.
