Navarro County gets Austin welcome

AUSTIN — Twenty four representatives of Corsicana and Navarro County are visiting the state capitol in Austin Tuesday, part of Navarro County Day in Austin.

State Rep. Byron Cook (R-Corsicana)  and staff escorted the group around the capitol building and to a luncheon and meeting with several state officials.

The group will hear from Matt Nelson, Manager of Regional Water Planning; Michael Williams, Commissioner of Education, Texas Education Agency; and Phil Wilson, executive director of the Texas Department of Transportation.

Over lunch, the group heard from Mike Levine, executive director of the Sunset Commission, charged with reviewing state agencies and analyzing their continued effectiveness and need.
