Corsicana — The Corsicana H-E-B will adopt the Corsicana Central Fire Station and serve breakfast to firefighters on Friday, Sept. 13.

In honor of Sept. 11, more than 3,900 H-E-B Partners from 311 H-E-B stores and work locations across the state of Texas will visit their local fire stations on Wednesday, Sept. 11, or Friday, Sept. 13, as part of the company-wide volunteer service project Helping Heroes. Throughout Texas, H-E-B will adopt 612 fire stations with Partners on hand to serve meals to firefighters and help out around the station throughout the day. The number of adopted fire stations has increased by 80 from 2012 to 2013.

In its ninth year, the Helping Heroes program allows H-E-B Partners to celebrate and honor local fire departments and commemorate the heroism of civil servants throughout the state. This community service project honors Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance that pays tribute to the men and women rescue teams who risked and lost their lives at the World Trade Center.

“Each year, our company looks forward to the Helping Heroes program and the opportunities it provides our Partners to show appreciation for our Heroes’ dedication and selfless service to our community,” said Winell Herron, Group Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity, and Environmental Affairs for H-E-B. “Whether we are preparing a hot meal or helping with chores around the station, this program allows H-E-B to honor some of the bravest members of our community.”

H-E-B volunteers across the state will perform service and maintenance projects such as yard work, station cleaning, painting, equipment cleaning and preparation work.

Helping and honoring first responders such as fire departments is a key part of H-E-B’s “Helping Here” philosophy, which promises to stand by and support our communities.
