The Corsicana Kiwanis Club on Tuesday morning donated a bronze statue to the Corsicana Public Library.
The statue is of a little boy and little girl on a bench reading a book.
“We’re very proud to present this statue to the library,” said Corsicana Kiwanis President Tim Stites. “This goes with our philosophy of Kiwanis, which is helping the children of the world. What could be more helpful than encouraging a child to read?”
A small committee chose some options for the artwork to be donated, and then the larger club helped select from the finalists, explained Holly Gibson, a Kiwanian.
“I think the children of Navarro County will enjoy it, and I hope the parents will too” she said. “We’re proud to beautify the library a little bit.”
The bronze statue has been mounted to the walkway in front of the library at 100 N. 12th St.
