Petty's Chapel Baptist Church would like to invite the public to its Fifth Sunday singing on Sept. 29 at 8:30 a.m. featuring the Douglas Family. We are located one-half mile east of IH-45 on Roane Rd. Our regular worship service times are 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning with a brief time of fellowship and Sunday School following. Westside Baptist Church will have its Fifth Sunday Gospel Singing Celebration at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29. The program of southern gospel music will feature the well-known quartet Southern Joy. The quartet has been singing together for many years and have blessed and brought joy to the hearts of those who have heard them. The fact is, southern gospel quartet music doesn’t get any better than Southern Joy! The public is invited to attend the program and southern style fellowship immediately following the service. The Blooming Grove United Methodist Church, 300 S. Kerr, Blooming Grove, will be celebrating and honoring the 100th anniversary of its current church building on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. The church doors will open to welcome past and present members, guests and visitors at 10 a.m. A special worship service will begin at 11 a.m. preached by Bishop Mike Lowry with special music by the Douglas Family. Following the service, lunch will be served in its Heritage Hall. Please join us in celebrating this historic day.
The Grace Green Missionary Society of the Grace Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church will be having its second annual Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Several members of the church will be involved in a special program to commemorate this event. The public is invited to attend. Harmony Baptist Church, 400 East 12th Avenue, Corsicana, will hold its Fifth Sunday Mission Day Service on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. Special guest speaker will be Sis. Dinah Shitanda, member of Gospel Springs International Church, Ft. Worth, Pastor William Laktari. The theme for this service will be “Back To Business” from the scripture reference Luke 2:49. Unity Baptist Church, 101 S. 30th St., where Chad Owens is Pastor, invites you to services: Sunday School 9:45 a.m. Sunday: worship and children’s church at 11 a.m., worship at 6 p.m., and Wednesday: Prayer meeting at 7 p.m., Kings Kids class meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. Pelham Community Homecoming will take place Oct. 11-13. At 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 a Worship Service by Rev. Charles Kelly will be held at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Rev. Dennis Weaver will be the speaker. On Saturday, Oct. 12, from 2 to 6 p.m. will be Pelham “Fun and Frolic.” Family and friends activities at the Pelham Community History Museum, bring your lawn chairs, and the museum will be open for tours. Beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13 will be Sunday School, followed by 10:45 a.m. Homecoming Worship Services held at the Wesley United Methodist Church, with Rev. Willie Green of Bethel AME Church, Corsicana as the speaker. Dinner will be served following the service at the Pelham Community Center. Wesley United Methodist Church, 3308 N. Beaton, will have a fundraiser spaghetti dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013. Adult plates will be $8 and children’s plates will be $4. Plates will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and a drink, and take out meals will be available. Sunday School meets at 10 a.m. with worship service at 11 a.m. Rev. Missionary Baptist Church, 405 S. 15th Street, Corsicana. The church ordinance of the Lord's Supper will be observed this Sunday at the close of the 10:50 a.m. Morning Worship at Missionary Baptist Church. MBC observes “Closed Communion” but welcomes visitors to the service who wish to observe or be excused prior to the Lord's Supper being served. Sunday School and Afternoon Worship will begin at the usual times of 9:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. respectfully. MBC will again conduct a “Youth Led” Morning Worship Oct. 6. All portions of the service will be led by the youth of the church. Lunch will be served afterwards and an early after “singing” will follow that day only. The guest speaker is an associate pastor of another American Baptist Association church. If past performance is any indicator, this will be a wonderful and uplifting service for all. Mid-week services begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. We anticipate the warm Texas weather to begin to cool some in the evenings very soon that will again allow for the Friday Night Fun Nights to resume. Grief Share, sponsored by Northside Baptist Church, meets from 5 to 7 p.m. each Sunday at the Fellowship Center on Forest Lane (across the street from Northside). This is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. Each Grief Share session includes a video seminar and group discussion. Grief Share is a non-denominational group and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time. You are welcome to begin attending the Grief Share group at any session. Each is “self-contained,” so you do not have to attend in sequence.
