Freedom Fund Banquet set Nov. 2

Corsicana — Three special families and a local charitable organization will be honored on Nov. 2 when the Navarro County NAACP holds its 6th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet.

The event will take place starting at 7 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center at 1114 East Sixth Avenue in Corsicana. This year’s theme is “Overcoming our Past, and Embracing our Future.”

The Freedom Fund Banquet is the major fundraiser each year for the local NAACP. The funds raised are used for the organization’s scholarship fund to help support students in Navarro County.

Special guest honorees for the evening will be Mr. and Mrs. George Burrell; Dr. and Mrs. Charles Biltz; Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Williams; and Habitat for Humanity of Navarro County.

Guest speaker for the evening will be Carol E. Wise, executive vice-president and Chief Operating Officer for Dallas Area Rapid Transit.
