Lace up your tennis shoes and get ready to walk or run the streets of Kerens and benefit the K.E.S.A. scholarship fund, when the Cotton Row Run coincides with the Kerens Cotton Harvest Festival on Sat., Oct. 19.
“This 5K Fun Run/Walk will raise money to benefit our Kerens Ex-Students Association scholarship fund, along with the Pancake Breakfast,” said Tresa Darby, co-organizer of the run.
Pre-registration must be received by Oct. 7, and ensures getting the correct T-shirt size and a goodie bag. There is a category for everyone, regardless of age or gender. Trophies will be awarded to the first male and female, and the first three in each category will receive a ribbon and be announced at the awards presentation.
“Awards will be given at 9:15 a.m. on Main Street near the Alumni Center,” she said. “There will be prizes for Spirit, Best Dressed and more.”
Registration will begin on race day at 7 a.m., with the Cotton Row Run beginning at 8 a.m. near the rear entrance of the Kerens Alumni Center.
Additional T-shirts will be available for purchase for $15 each. The benefit walk/run will take place rain or shine.
“We are still in need of some additional sponsors and donations are always very appreciated,” Darby said.
