“Little Women” is the latest production of the Warehouse Living Arts Center. Two weeks of performances open on Thursday, July 17, with 7:30 p.m. performances on July 18, 19, 22, 24, 25 and 26. There will be a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee performance on July 20. For tickets or reservations, call the Warehouse at 903-872-5421.

July 17

The Corsicana Public Library will host Wild Things Zoofari at 10:30 a.m. for the 2014 Summer Reading Program. Come see exciting exotic animals up close and learn about them in the process. Be inspired to do great things for the protection of exotic animals and their native habitats as adults.

The Shakers and Scrapers car club will have their monthly meeting at 6:30 pm at VG'z pavilion at 301 E 3rd Ave. For information call Dan Summerall at 903-467-7170


July 19

Bazzette/Prairie Point Annual Picnic will be held starting at 8 a.m. at the cemetery. Bring a covered dish, lawn chairs, and enjoy the day. Lunch will be served at noon.

The American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will a BBQ and CASI Chili Cook Off starting at 8 a.m. at the post. The BBQ contest will include brisket, pork ribs, local chili and beans with trophies awarded for the best tasting entries. The CASI contestants will be competing for points for Terlinqua Cook Off and trophies. Trey Houston and his band will perform from 8 p.m. to closing. For information call 903-874-3938 after 2 p.m.

July 22

The Liz Gillispie Genealogy Department at the Corsicana Public Library will present a special program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Nancy Roberts Civic Room about Join Juliana Smith, editor of the Ancestry Weekly Discovery e-newsletter, in this introductory course and learn how can assist you in your family history journey. Learn how to navigate the site, search for your ancestors in all their collections on and start an online tree to organize your finds. July 26

The Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department will host a breakfast fundraiser starting at 8:30 a.m. at the station, 101 Hinkley. They will serve a full breakfast with eggs, sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy. Donations are welcomed. The Blooming Grove High School and Carter Bloodcare will host a blood drive at the same time at the station. For more information about the breakfast, call Eva at (903) 695-2460.
