The Corsicana Art League will meet at 6 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center.  Judy Gilfert, an award winning artist from Arlington, will provide the program.  Everyone interested in the Arts is invited.  Light refreshments will be served.  For more info, call at (903) 519-9082.

Oct. 25

Boys and Girls Club of Navarro County will hold a 2012 Fall Festival from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club, 1000 East G.W. Jackson Ave., Corsicana. Parents with children ages 6 and older are encouraged to attend. There will be free food giveaways, games, raffle items, face painting and much more. Oct. 27

When Are We Going Home Ministry will hold its annual concert with Cheryl Dunn appearing at the New Beginnings Family Fellowship in Blooming Grove at 5:30 p.m.

The Chatanooga Reunion will be held at Mildred Baptist Church from 3 to 7 p.m. All former Chatanooga Glass employees are encouraged to attend. Any donations of auction items will be appreciated. No RSVP required, but there will be a catered dinner. For more information, call Richard Rash at (903) 874-3900.

      The newly organized Silver Dems will meet at 5 p.m. at the Navarro Democratic Party HQ at 416A W. Third Street (1 blk W of Court House).  We will be socializing and munching from plates that you bring so be generous with the sweet treats and wear your best smile.  We will soon be approving by-laws and electing officers and committees so your leadership skills will be needed.  Come and join the party! The group’s main purpose is to discuss and protect issues important to folks over 50 years young and educate ourselves on benefits from the government and civilian organizations that are available and earned by senior citizens and veterans.

The Navarro County Republican Women welcome Rafael Cruz, Father of Ted Cruz, as the special Guest Speaker on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at The Remington, 122 West Third Avenue, Corsicana.  Social hour begins at 11:30 a.m. Lunch and meeting 12 Noon to 1 p.m.  Everyone is invited.  No RSVP is necessary. Lunch is $7 at the door. Mr. Cruz spoke at the U.S. Senate Forum held by the Navarro County Republican Women in April 2012, and he is a powerful and inspirational speaker. We will also be discussing this most important election season and how we can participate.  We must all vote and help encourage others to vote!!

    A baseball coach at heart, about a year ago Aaron Tidwell began to seriously focus on education administration. He just didn’t think an opportunity would present itself so soon. Mildred Independent School District board members approved the 31-year-old Corsicana native as the high school’s new principal Monday night.
