June 6

Kinsloe House presents a favorite, Dave Tanner, to provide the program on June 6. “The Most Romantic Movie Songs Ever” is the theme. Dave combines a unique delivery and musical gifts to thrill his audience. The Thalian Club members are hostesses for the program. Nancy Philo is chairman.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 22 will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. (This is a new date and time.) There will be the swearing-in of the new 2012-2013 officers. Please attend and help us get our new year off to a great start. Post 22 is located at 632 N. June 7

When Are We Going Home Ministry will hold its Rising Star Creative Ministry at 6 p.m. at New Beginnings Family Fellowship in Blooming Grove. The class is free and open to medically challenged, disabled or special-needs children ages birth to 21 and their immediate siblings. For more information call (903) 422-6120.

The Corsicana Public Library will host its 2012 Summer Reading Club series at 11 a.m. each Thursday during June and July. The special guest June 7 will be the Corsicana Fire Department. There are prizes for every five books read. Participants may register at the library, 100 N. 12th St. For more information, call (903) 654-4810.

The Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m .at the Blooming Grove Fire Station. The speaker will be District Judge James Lagomarsino. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited.

VFW Post 3366 will have its monthly meeting of all members at 6:30 p.m. All members are urged to attend.

June 9

The annual “Dawg Days of Summer Sooner Chili Cookoff” sponsored by the Humane Society of Navarro County will take place June 9 and 10 at Gander Mountain on Corsicana Crossings. A raffle with a grand prize of a 5 by 8 foot enclosed trailer from Cargo Craft will be held. Other prizes include an iPad II with cover, a Kindle Fire with cover, a $200 Wal-Mart gift card, and a framed print courtesy of Marguerita Patterson. For more information, call (903) 875-1060.
