Corsicana — Navaro County commissioners tabled action items on restoration of courthouse in their meeting Monday morning at the courthouse.
Commissioners had scheduled action on hiring a financial advisor, approving an architect's agreement, and signing an agreement for funding with the state on Monday's agenda.
After considerable discussion on overall costs, how to pay for the renovations, and what might or might not be allowed under certificates of obligation, all items on the agenda were tabled for further study.
Bobby Vickery of Frost also discussed the possibility of a petition for a referendum vote of the public on the funding proposals for the project.
If the county does not sign a funding agreement with the Texas Historic Commission by January, the funding grant could be re-called, said Susan Gamage with the Historic Commission.
Commissioners said they would schedule an executive session meeting for later this week to discuss the hiring of a financial advisor for the proposed project, a move all agreed was the next best step for the county in order to help finalize costs.
We'll publish more on this story later today, and in the Tuesday print edition of the Daily Sun.
