Corsicana — Jan. 21

The Navarro County Branch of the NAACP remembers Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with “A Day of Celebration” to include a rally at Bunert Park at 10 a.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Kenneth Walton Jr., pastor of First Independent Baptist Church. Following will be a march to the MLK Center for an oratory contest at noon. Everyone is welcome to participate. Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance Corsicana will sponsor the Sixth Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at 6 p.m. at the Calvary Worship Center, 1364 North Beaton Street, Gary Johnson, pastor.  Pastor Charles Washington of Haynes Memorial Church of God In Christ of Mexia will be the guest speaker. “ A Day On, Not A Day Off,”  Living the Dream is the theme. Dairy G. Johnson, Sr., is chairman of the event. Co-Sponsors are Evangelist Cathy Douglas, Minister Margret Evans, Penny Liggins, Minister Valerie Horn, and Minister Orlando Williams. Rehearsal dates are January 7, and 14 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church at 7 p.m. The organizers are asking all church choirs to support this effort.

The Spirit Sent Music Ministry of When Are We Going Home Ministry will meet at New Beginnings Family Fellowship in Blooming Grove at 6 p.m. All events are free and open to children with medical challenges, disabilities and special needs and their immediate siblings. www.whenarewegoinghome.com.

Navarro Regional Hospital’s Senior Circle Lunch and Learn will conclude it’s three-part dental series from 1 to 2 p.m. in the hospital classrooms. Dr. Justin Wright, DDS, will expound upon “New Teeth for a lifetime: Say goodbye to floppy dentures, teeth in bad repair, and get ready for a brand new smile that doesn’t move or come out!” Light snacks will be served.
