Corsicana — A woman killed Saturday in a roll-over crash on Interstate 45 was not wearing a seat belt.
The woman killed in the crash, which injured six others, was identified as Maria Martinez, 48, of Humble.
Martinez was a back seat passenger in the late-model SUV headed north on Interstate 45 Saturday morning when the vehicle apparently lost control and overturned several times before jumping the cable barrier and landing on the southbound side of the highway.
The driver of the SUV, Rosa Resendez, 25, of Humble, and the front seat passenger, Maria Reyna, 18, also of Humble, were the only two occupants of the vehicle that were wearing seat belts. All the other occupants of the SUV were ejected, said Sgt. Thomas Moore of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The four others ejected from the vehicle, also from Humble, were identified as:
Anthony Resendez, 3-months-old. The infant was strapped in an infant carrier, but the carrier was not strapped down, Moore said.
Brenda Reyna, 25.
Emanuel Resendez, 4.
Adrian Reyna, 11.
Moore said the group was traveling from Humble to Carrolton Saturday morning when the crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. near the 234 mile marker on Interstate 45.
Moore said Saturday afternoon the six persons injured in the crash were in "serious to critical" condition.
